How to Join
All young business people are welcome to join Bristol Bridge Rotary club. We suggest that you come along to one or two breakfast meetings to meet the rest of the group to find out what we're all like.
Members have numerous generous benefits from Rotary International and RIBI, as well as priority booking at Bristol Bridge events, including breakfasts at which Speakers will be attending.
If you would like to formally join, please download an application form, complete it and bring it along to a breakfast meeting. Don't worry about the nomination and the long-winded procedure on the second page, as these are just some of the formalities that our "young" club is not so concerned about.
There is a one-off fee of £25 payable to Rotary International, which sets you up as a lifetime member of Rotary, so wherever you are in the world, you will always be a Rotarian and will be welcome at the meetings of local Rotary clubs.
In addition, there is an annual membership fee payable to Bristol Bridge Rotary Club. Some of this fee will go to Rotary Britain and Ireland, and part of it will go to the Rotary District in which our club is situated. The remained will be kept in the club's current account, for general club expenses such as maintaining our website, purchasing the club banner / stationery, paying for speakers' breakfasts, etc.
After much deliberation, we have decided to keep the annual membership fee for the Rotary year 2009/10 at £90. We are conscious that these are difficult times for everyone, and we want to make membership of the club affordable to all. For this reason, we are offering the option to pay the £90 in two instalments - one before 31 July 2009 and the second by 31 January 2009.
You can pay in the following ways:
- by cash - just bring the money along with you to one of our breakfast meetings and hand it to the Treasurer.
- by cheque - please make this payable to Bristol Bridge Rotary Club. If the name on the cheque is not the name of the member (eg, if you manage to get your employer to pay), please write the member's name on the back of the cheque, so we know who it relates to.
- by bank transfer - please contact our Treasurer for our account details.
For new members joining part way through the Rotary year, the membership fee is payable only for the part of the year that you are actually a member. As the RIBI subs are payable quarterly, while the District a club dues are payable monthly, it can be a little tricky to calculate exactly how much the correct membership fee is. Hopefully, this table should help;
| Month of joining | Fees payable |
| July 2009 | £90.00 |
| August 2009 | £86.45 |
| September 2009 | £82.86 |
| October 2009 | £67.51 |
| November 2009 | £63.95 |
| December 2009 | £60.42 |
| January 2010 | £45.00 |
| February 2010 | £41.45 |
| March 2010 | £37.91 |
| April 2010 | £22.51 |
| May 2010 | £18.96 |
| June 2010 | £15.42 |
As mentioned above, there is an additional one-off joining fee of £25 if you have not been a member of a Rotary club before.
